JKSSB Recruitment 2026 Selection Process

Selection for all advertised posts will be made on the basis of merit obtained in the Written/OMR Based Examination only. In case of a large number of applications, JKSSB reserves the right to apply shortlisting criteria as deemed appropriate.

Stage 1 – Written/OMR Based Examination

The examination will consist of Objective Type Multiple Choice Questions set in English Language only. There will be negative marking of one-fourth of marks for each wrong answer. The date and venue of the examination shall be notified separately on the official website jkssb.nic.in.

Stage 2 – Document Verification (DV)

Candidates shortlisted on the basis of written examination merit will be called for Document Verification. Original documents along with self-attested photocopies must be produced. Failure to appear or produce valid documents on the scheduled DV date shall lead to cancellation of candidature.

Stage 3 – Medical Examination

Selected candidates must be medically fit as per the standards prescribed by the Government of J&K.

Who should NOT apply for JKSSB Recruitment 2026?

• Candidates who are not Domiciles of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir or do not possess a valid Domicile Certificate as on 21-07-2026.
• Candidates who do not possess the exact essential qualification prescribed for the respective post as per Annexure-A.
• Candidates expecting reservation benefits without a valid category certificate in the prescribed format as on the cut-off date.
• OBC candidates belonging to the Creamy Layer.
• Candidates claiming equivalent qualifications without a valid Equivalence Certificate from the competent authority.
• Candidates who provide incomplete, incorrect, or unverifiable information in the online application form.
• Candidates who cannot satisfy medical fitness or document verification requirements at the time of appointment.

Common mistakes / What to check before applying JKSSB Recruitment 2026?

• Not verifying the exact post-wise qualification prescribed in Annexure-A before applying for a specific Item Number.
• Uploading blurred, illegible photograph or signature – such applications will be summarily rejected.
• Entering the wrong email ID or mobile number, which may result in missing important updates from JKSSB.
• Submitting more than one application for the same Item Number – JKSSB will consider only the latest application and may debar the candidate.
• Not uploading valid category/reservation certificates (within cut-off date) at the time of submitting the online form – no further opportunity will be provided.
• Waiting until the last date to submit the application – heavy website load may cause login failures.
• Writing Name, Date of Birth, Father’s Name and Mother’s Name differently from the Matriculation Certificate – this may lead to cancellation at Document Verification.

How to Apply for JKSSB Recruitment 2026

Candidates must apply online only through the JKSSB official portal at https://jkssb.nic.in. Detailed instructions for filling the online application will be made available on the Board’s website separately. No other mode of application will be accepted.

Documents to be Uploaded at the time of Online Application:

• Live photograph as required during online form filling.
• Scanned signature (size: 10 KB to 20 KB).
• Valid Domicile Certificate issued by the Competent Authority.
• Matriculation/10th certificate as proof of date of birth and name.
• Degree/Diploma/ITI certificate and marksheets for educational qualification proof (self-attested, max size 100 KB in PDF format).
• Category Certificate (SC/ST/OBC/RBA/EWS/ALC/IB) in prescribed format valid as on cut-off date (max size 100 KB in PDF format), if applicable.
• PwBD certificate, if applicable.
• Ex-Servicemen certificate in Form XIV, if applicable.
• Any other supporting document for claims made in the application.

Candidates must take a printout of the finally submitted online application and retain it for production at the time of Document Verification. No hard copy is required to be sent to JKSSB by post or email.

Important Instructions for JKSSB Recruitment 2026 Candidates

• Online applications are open from 22-06-2026 to 21-07-2026.
• Applications once submitted cannot be modified or withdrawn under any circumstances.
• All eligibility conditions, including domicile and category certificate validity, will be determined as on 21-07-2026.
• Candidates must write their Name, Date of Birth, Father’s Name and Mother’s Name strictly as per their Matriculation Certificate.
• Only one online application per Item Number is permitted – multiple applications for the same post may lead to debarment.
• Use of mobile phones, smart watches, AI-enabled devices or any electronic gadgets is strictly prohibited at the examination venue.
• Candidates must carry two recent passport size colour photographs and original valid Photo-ID to the examination hall.
• The Board’s decision on all matters relating to eligibility, selection, and results shall be final and binding.
• Canvassing in any form or submission of fake/fabricated applications will lead to debarment and legal action.
• In-service candidates must route their application through the concerned Head of Department before the last date of Document Verification.
